Our
secret is out! Locals have known for years that Punta Gorda and Charlotte County offer a
unique way of life. From the hand-painted murals gracing many buildings in town to our
quaint town center bordered by a district of restored historic homes, Punta Gorda reflects
the care and pride of its residents. Life here is a little slower, a little more peaceful.
Drive or jog across the bridges over Charlotte Harbor and watch dolphins at play. There
are miles of canals bordered by lovely homes with manicured lawns. Color is everywhere
from the tropical vegetation -- neon-colored bougainvillea, the bright hues of hibiscus,
the cool green of coconut palms. The canals shimmer with the reflections of sailboats and
their rigging, and of the powerful fishing boats that go out deep into the Gulf of Mexico.
Toward evening stroll through one of our parks along Charlotte Harbor and watch the most
awesome sunsets. A slight breeze ripples the surface of the Harbor scattering the
reflected gold, bronze, and crimson. Salute the first stars of the evening from one of the
many waterfront restaurants. |
