Up Cervical Auscultation The McKaigs Stethoscopes The Swallow Current Research

Welcome to McKaigNet.com

For the initial presentation of this web page we are only able to present a few still frames of simultaneous recordings being examined with spectrogram.   in each case the frame of video corresponds with the trailing edge of the area highlighted in pink of the spectrogram.  To hear the sound of this waveform double click on swal216 and when sound recorder opens click on play button.

 swal216.wav

Initial burst shows the material entering the hypopharynx.

Second burst shows the material exiting the hypopharynx.

Finally we see the terminal event which includes the opening of the glottis (releasing trapped sub glottal air), and the separation of the pharyngeal walls as the system returns to neutral.
