NARRATIVE/BIOGRAPHICAL HISTORY

INTRODUCTION:

Thank you for your interest in the expert witness services of John V. Hugill, M.D. Dr. Hugill has been Board Certified by The American Society of Plastic Surgery (formerly The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery) since May of 1978. Following his training and service as a professor of plastic surgery at Rush University Medical School, Dr. Hugill has been in private practice for nearly three decades. He currently resides in Campobello, SC.

PRACTICE SPECIALIZATION:

Dr. Hugill has practiced all plastic surgery of the face and body and  specialized in facial rejuvenation (face-lift, blepharoplasty, brow-lift, etc.), breast surgery (augmentation, reduction, breast-lift), laser surgery/treatments (CO2, Erbium, etc.), liposuction, as well as surgery of the hand.

EDUCATION:

Born to British parents in 1940, Dr. Hugill attended college at the prestigious Gordonstoun School in Scotland from 1954 through 1959. www.gordonstoun.org  Gordonstoun, whose motte is "plus est en vous" (there is more in you than you think) was founded by Kurt Hahn, who also founded the Outward Bound Movement. www.outwardbound.com

Dr. Hugill then attended medical school at the University of Brazil School of Medicine from 1962 through 1966. His internship was completed at the same institution from 1968 through 1969. Dr. Hugill completed his two year residency in surgery at the University of Brazil Hospital (Santa Casa da Misericórdia) from 1968 through 1969 and later served as Instructor of Surgery at the same hospital in 1970.

In June of 1970, Dr. Hugill and his family moved to the United States, specifically Chicago, Illinois, where Dr. Hugill completed yet another internship at Cook County Hospital from 1970 through 1971. He then did his three year residency in general surgery at Cook County from 1971 through 1974. For his residency in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, Dr. Hugill selected the University of Western Ontario in London, Canada where he trained under Robert M. McFarlane, M.D. from 1974 through 1976.

ACADEMIC APPOINTMENTS AND HONORS:

Following completion of his training, Dr. Hugill returned to Chicago, where he served as Instructor of Surgery at Rush Medical Center at St. Luke's Medical Center in the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery from 1976 through 1979. He also served as Instructor of Surgery at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center from 1978 through 1979 and was selected as a Consultant, Plastic Surgeon at the Center of Craniofacial Abnormalities at the University of Illinois from June 1976 through March of 1979.

LICENSURE:

Dr. Hugill currently holds a valid license to practice medicine from the State of Florida (#33840), which he has held in good standing since January 26, 1979.

Dr. Hugill has also held a valid license to practice medicine in the State of Illinois (#36-46157).

BOARD CERTIFICATIONS:

Dr. Hugill is Board Certified by The American Society of Plastic Surgeons (formerly known as The American Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons and recognized by the American Board of Medical Specialties) and has been so certified since May of 1978.
